Hi,

This is my first post, so please excuse me if I ask anything stupid!  I am currently looking to buy a Breitling Navitimer Heritage (blue dial, stainless case & bracelet), but am debating about where to buy from and what the pros / cons are.

Basically, I can go to an official dealer like Watches of Switzerland and buy one for £3000 (less a 10% ish discount), or buy from an unofficial internet shop and get a much bigger discount.

I have found a site called #####.com, who are listing the watch at a 26% discount, making it £2200 – a lot cheaper!

Speaking with #####.com, they tell me that the watches they sell are all 100% genuine, with all the correct paperwork / original box.  What they do say, is that the watches are often sourced from outside the UK.

My concern is that I have heard Breitling will not honour the 3 year warranty unless the piece is purchased from an official dealer.

Additionally, I am concerned that should I need to sell the watch at any point, it will be worth less being a so-called grey market watch, not being purchased thru’ an official dealer.

Does anyone have any answers to these questions to help me decide where I should buy the watch from and whether or not the above are true & valid statements.

Also, if anyone has any other issues that I should bear in mind when buying my first Breitling, I’d love to hear from you!

Many thanks,

Mark

there are effectively 2 kinds of grey watches

some , like my submariner from this fine establishment Smiley , come with all original papers etc from the original authorised delaer and as such are fine for warranty and resale

others , such as a Omega SMP I bought , have had the serial number removed and are without papers , in this case you are on your own re warranty and reasle will be affected , the original sale price should reflect this

As far as i aw aware, Breitling will not honour the warranty if the warranty card is unstamped. Some of these watches that are sourced abroad do not have dealer stamps on the warranty cards. There is no problem buying brand new from internet watch dealers - as long as they card is stamped by a authorised Brietling retailer. No Stamp - No warranty!! (as far as i am aware)
