Be aware!

June 2006 I bought an U-boatwatch. For two years there were no problems with the watch but unfortunately in October 2008 it stopped. First I presumed that the battery had to be replaced, so I went to the dealer for a replacement. After a week I got a telephone call in which the dealer told me that the watch was out of order. My opinion is that a repair so short after the guaranty period has stopped, may have a fair attitude of the distributor.
These are my experiences with the distributor of the Benelux (if you want: look www.italofontana.it):
•   The Belgian distributor for the Benelux holds his point of view in case of the gauranty period: 2 years = 2 years and no more
•   The watch has been in hold of the distributor form October 2008 until half January 2009.  In first I informed after 5 weeks (!) to get some information. After that I had to inform for myself again half January (!) if the watch was repaired because I didn’t get any sign from the distributor
•   I tried to convince the distributor to take a fair attitude in behalf of the guaranty period and that this form of service would produce a lot of positive advertising. I am sure that my messages have been read by this firm but at first, for two months,  there came never a reply. Just after I informed Italo Fontana there was a sudden replay. Coincidence?
•   In the communication held from that moment the distributor constantly and only referred at the content of the guaranty card. In this case he even says that unlawful use as ‘dropping the watch or pushing the watch to something else’  is out of guaranty. So be prepared: dropping the watch or pushing will be explained as unlawful use!! (which didn’t  happen in my case..)

There is a little chance to none that I will buy an U-boatwatch in the future, and in this case never again in the Benelux. If you want to buy one, inquire who is the distributor and with this knowledge make a discussion if you want to buy one.
