Tag 6000 chronograph

I have had my Tag 6000 for 3 years now and the strap has broken twice in the last 6 months. The first time cost approx £120 to fix. This time they are saying it needs a new strap at a cost of nearly £700. Has anyone else had or heard of any strap problems with the 6000 series? Also does anyone know of anywhere to purchase a 6000 series strap, ie not direct from Tag? Tag's answer is the strap was being worn too loose!!! My other metal strapped watches are fine and a fraction of the price.
