Hello
I am wanting to buy a watch for my Fiance as an engagement present, but not sure which brand is a good quality everyday make. Nothing too fancy as I cannot afford Rolex or Tag unfortunately...though I would LOVE to buy him the Tiger Woods Tag watch as he is a very good golfer and golf is the other love in his life...

So...top 10 watch brands? Any things to look for eg quartz versus mechanical?  What makes  a good watch? etc...

All suggestions very much appreciated...
