I stumbled across this site and after reading a few of the posts thought someone out there may be able to help identify this watch.
When an aged uncle died I came across a an interesting little watch which although does not have Rolex on the face has Rolex marked on one of the gears and stamped in the back of the case, along with a number
640662. Although the dial face is broken and the watch is missing at least one hand the movement still works! The case appears to be no special metal, and is hinged on the left to allow the top and bottom to open, and is about 1" across.
The best part of the watch is an engraving inside the rear cover which reads, To the Captain with every good wish. From her devoted crew
HMS Ragged. June 4th.
If someone has any idea of year or model or in fact any info about the watch I would love to hear from them. Regards Garry

If that number is the serial number then it dates to 1949

are there any other numbers ( look between the lugs ) ?

Hi Gary, Thanks for replying, I've had another look and found some more numbers, inside the rear case on the cover there is a number 7 stamped at the top.
More interesting maybe is that on the movement at the edge of the dial under the top cover are the numbers 662 and what looks like REBBERG.
The 662 look hand stamped and the name appears to be machine stamped. I don't know if this helps at all.
Thanks for your interest and help.
Regards Garry
