Broken Rolex. Help!.

Hi all, can anyone give me some advice on what could be broken on my rolex?. Its a perpetual date chronometer, model no15210. It just stopped one day, the second hand now only moves slightly back and for if I give it a tap. It did tick anti-clockwise for about 15 sec once  . So if anyone can help as to what the problem is I would very much appreciate.
Also a customer of my dads is a watch maker (used to work for rolex) who could repair it but I am worried because I heard rolex will only supply authorised repair centres with parts. Is this the case or have I been missinformed. Thanks for any replies.

If the second hand is going backwards more than likely it will be the mainspring that needs attention!
