Certainly a stainless steel one cou;d never be seen as that , the 1/2 gold model maybe , and 18k with serti dial would certainly look "bling" to some extent but not to the point of ruining it as a timeless classic

for the gold and ha;f gols then a black/dial bezel is more "low profile" than the blue versions

If your're going to buy a Sub, be cool and buy a 5513 gloss dial, easy, find a matt dial one, you know it makes sense.

Sub's are not bling, although a friend of mine in Almaty says that they are worn by American Waiters - not quite sure what he means.  Get one, you will not regret it. It was my first real watch, I bought mine 14 years ago for £1500, not a squeek of trouble, looks good as new, and still sits nicely in my collection, against some much more expensive competition.

Do what I do and wear the watch under your shirt.

I consider myself to be pretty modest and tend to hide my watch under my cuff at all times.

My mate once owned a Rolex Sea Bed explorer and used to brag that it was water resistant down to 4000 feet. Yahboosucks, I pointed out my bulk standard 5013 Submariner had been down to 1500 feet and didn't get wet. As an ex submariner I can be fairly smug at times!!!!!!!!

Not 'bling' so much as 'recognisable'. Probably the most  recognised  -- and copied -- watch in the world. Not Rolex's fault. It isn't the be-all and end-all of dive watches by any means, but its pedigree and  build quality speak for themselves. Therefore, so as long as you are buying one because *you* really like it, and prefer it above anything else out there, go for it.

One main advantage: you can probably sell it at negligible/no loss very easily if you change your mind. There aren't many watches that that can be said for. But this should not  be -- repeat, should not be -- the prime factor in purchasing one in the first place.

Many apols, as most of you know, a sea bed explorer doesn't exist. I was of course refering to the Sea Dweller. I've often called the Sea Dweller the sea bed explorer because of the depth it is water resistant to. Yes they are all fantastic watches and I wish I had one of each in a collection. What is your favourite?.....................Like I said plain and simple for me but it's horses for courses and there is one for each taste.
I've read somewhere that the bloke who kicked the company off in the first place chose the name Rolex because it's pronounceable in any language. Is this true?
