I am looking to purchase a green submariner and I need some help.  Does the green submariner has any special serial number or feature by which I can identify?  I'm a bit concern that the bezel may be irreplaceable.  If it is easily replaceable and everyone can replace their average bezel with the special green edition, then then comes my next concern "how can I tell if it is the genuine special edition?".  Help is much appreciated.

The serial numbers use the same format but the model number is 16610lv as opposed to 16610 for the normal sub ( this can be seen with bracelet removed )

the bezel is actually an insert which can be changed however the dial is also different , the green sub has larger markers at the 5 min intervals

I was thinking of this watch for my husband's 30th. Is it true that a special edition is a better investment than a normal model? Anyone that knows a thing or two on watches got any opinions as to what I should go for? I definitely want to get a Rolex.

The green Submariner is not a special edition it is a standard production model , though it was introduced to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Sub

The best investement re Rolex would be ( in order )

Stainless Steel Daytona
Green Submariner
Standard Seadweller/Submariner

I disagree slightly in that the Green Sub (LV) isn`t that popular so I personally feel the used prices will fall more than the steel versions in the short to medium term.
If I was going to buy a Rolex try to obtain a nearly new model the prices are more realistic and the watch wont loose so much if it is well looked after!

The price of this model will depend when Rolex stop producing this model.

I have looked at pictures of the new Rolex green bezel model and I find that, along with the other blue and gold combinations, I do wonder what Rolex were driving at. There is something about the colours and style that says trashy, cheap(?), bling bling and look at me I'm a two tone Rolex watch. Give me understated good old fashioned style and funtionality any day. My Rolex, a Submariner 5513, has no day date to spoil the watch face and minimal markings, just a good old fashioned black dial and a chunky look about it. I mean who wants to know the date when you're 300 feet underwater, it's not as if you've gone anything else to worry about.

Even as on owner of a Blue TT sub I must say that the no date ( or at least no cyclops ) look is preferable , I prefer the Seadweller to the date Sub because of this but the shade of blue used in the 16613 TT sub just did it for me and outweighed the downside if the cyclops , I then wanted a Black SS watch with no cyclops but decoded that the ND sub or SD would be too similar to my TT sub so I bought a Omega Planet Ocean which I am very pleased with

The reason for the green bezel is that the Rolex house colour used in all their marketing is Green.
So makes perfect sense for the bezel to be green.
Like any Rolex model it is limited edition and when changed will increase in value.
Im sure years ago collectors were discussing the standard production red sub or double red seadweller or comex sub saying they would never become collectable.
