I currently own an Omega Seamaster Pro but am thinking of buying a Rolex Submariner Date or a GMT Master II.  Some people have advised me not to bother and that I am just paying for the "name".

Help please!!

I would go for the Rolex Sub, but your friends are right - you are just paying for the name.

I have owned a Rolex Explorer II in the post and currently have an Omega SMP. I have to say that I prefer the build quality on the Omega.

For reference I also have a Panerai PAM106 submersible so the price was /is not part of the recommendation above.

I am looking at a similar Panerai model to purchase. I think Panerai are a better looking and made watch than Omega or Rolex and also they do not have the associations with car dealers!!!

Saying that I dont want to promote Panerai as I like the fact that alot of people arnt aware of them!
